Structural Steelwork
Zeal Steel's strength is in our ability to work creatively with steel. We are innovative in how we connect steel and the environment in which steel will be utilized and appreciated. We use our extensive experience to find solutions for our clients, turning their ideas and dreams into reality. Our aim is not to produce a satisfactory result but to exceed expectations while remaining cost-effective. We work collaboratively with structural engineers, discussing designs and specifications to achieve the best possible outcome aesthetically and practically.
Richardson Street Church
In 2021, Zeal Steel started working with Steve Mowat Building on the refurbishment of a 124-year-old Anglican Church into two separate apartments. Zeal Steel aided with earthquake strengthening and the remedial steelwork needed for the delicate project.
The final building consent drawings were produced in 2022 and work began with some amended designs. Later in 2023 work on the church accelerated and by early 2024 most of the steel skeleton that braces and ties the brick walls and high-pitched roof was in place. Along the journey, numerous details could only be worked out through collaboration with the structural engineer and builders as no amount of pre-design work for the task of re-engineering the over-a-century-old construction.

Green Island Medical Centre
From 2022 to 2023, Zeal Steel collaborated with Steve Mowatt Building and Feldspar on the building of the new Green Island Medical Centre. Zeal Steel fabricated the steel entrance canopy and support steel framing for the glazed frontage. After the initial pricing was completed from the concept structural drawings, the design was then edited and tightened up to allow the most practical and cost-effective result.
